Mr Chiang Jianlun is an experienced teacher with many years of teaching experience both as a school teacher and tutor. His students feel that he can bring the most difficult concepts down to a level which is easy and fun to learn.

In addition, Jianlun connects with his students on a personal level as well, with students not afraid to ask him for life advice even years after graduating.

Jianlun strongly believes that students should not be afraid of failures. When a student fails, that’s when new synapses form in the brain and allow the student to learn. Contrary to popular belief, getting every question correct is not ‘learning’. Jianlun actively goes around his classes and brings students to understand why certain steps that they are doing are wrong. Students under him learn fast as every class is personalised and efficient.

Lastly, Jianlun believes that the brain is a muscle that can be trained. Just like how muscles are grown through repeated training, the brain can also be rewired endlessly. “There is no such thing as being naturally bad at Math. Math is infinitely compressible, and the way forward is through constant practice.”

Ms Weiting Fou graduated from NTU Bachelor of Mathematical Sciences with Honours (Specialisation in Statistics)

Worked at another tuition centre from 2016-2017; taught Secondary and JC Math;

Had involvement with working on the curriculum and materials, thereafter, came out and have done 1-1 tuition on her own from 2018 till present, as she prefers the small group approach where she can give more attention and cater better to her students

Had about 10-12 classes on average every year based on her class schedule; evident enough to show how many students she’s taught and helped so far

She enjoys the process of interacting with students, hearing them out about the difficulties they face in school and in the subject, and then work on a plan to improve together. She believes that confidence is important so she does her best to guide, cater to and encourage her students as much as possible.

Education is nothing without empathy. As a teacher, I connect with my students to better understand the stresses that they undergo in this rapidly changing world that we live in today. From there, a personalized lesson plan is tailored to suit that particular student.

What a Regular Lesson Looks Like

MuscleMath lessons are designed around structured teaching, centre-designed materials, regular practice and ongoing support beyond the classroom.

Weekly Class Format

Weekly classes are taught using a visualiser, with tutors guiding students through centre-designed materials, worksheets and worked examples.

Printed Materials

Printed worksheets are provided at each lesson so students can follow explanations, practise concepts and keep their work organised.

MuscleMath

Our Belief

‘Education is nothing without empathy.’

MuscleMath aims for every student to leave classes not just satisfied with the knowledge gained but more importantly, for students to look forward to the next class. The definition of learning has been blurred and it is always, and always will be, the utmost priority at MuscleMath to motivate and encourage students to learn not because of societal pressure, but for their own growth and self development.

‘Every student is different’

Through research proven techniques and years of experience, Joshua Tan adopts a differentiated teaching approach to cater to any and every type of student there is. Resources are key in enabling students understand concepts and retain knowledge, lesson plans and material are thus carefully tailored to suit all types of students.

Student’s Journey

At MuscleMath, we provide personalised materials that cater to each and every student. We take note of how we can help each student develop substantial understanding of Mathematics through classroom tests, homework and summarised concept sheets. Pedagogy

At MuscleMath, effective Math tuition starts with understanding why a student is losing marks, rather than simply giving them more questions to practise.

Our teachers look beyond the final answer to identify recurring mistake patterns, gaps in understanding, school-specific question demands and how well students can apply what they know under exam conditions. This allows lessons and resources to be adapted to the areas where each student needs the most support.

We organise this teaching approach through our M.U.S.C.L.E. Framework — six diagnostic lenses that guide how we identify learning gaps, coach students and turn understanding into stronger exam performance.
