JC 2024 GP and Point System

JC 2024 GP and Point System

GP syllabus 2024

  1. Reduced topics and questions for Essay from 12 questions to 8 questions. Choose 1.
  2. 3 Texts for Comprehension with comparison questions.
  3. Summary will be for the whole passage.

Point Calculations

Currently, JC/MI students that are applying to AUs are required to include four content-based subjects, General Paper, and Project Work in the computation of their UAS, resulting in a maximum of 90 points.

However, in 2026, the score computation will change to include the 3 H2 subject and General Paper, which will result in a maximum of 70 points. The fourth content based subject will only be included if it improves the UAS.

Changes implemented from the 2024 cohort

  1. There will be no mid-year examinations for students of junior colleges and Millennia Institute (MI) for cohorts entering the schools from 2024. Additionally, Knowledge and Inquiry (KI), which focuses more on philosophy, will continue to be offered but it can no longer replace GP, which places more emphasis on current affairs and contemporary issues. About 100 students took KI in lieu of GP in the 2022 A-level exams.
  2. Project Work will also become a pass or fail subject from 2024 for JC and MI, and students will need to pass the subject for university applications.
  3. General Paper for JC will be a compulsory subject.
