General Interbank Recurring Order (GIRO) is an electronic payment method in Singapore that facilitates automatic, recurring payments directly from a bank account to various billing organizations, including educational institutions. This system streamlines the process of settling regular expenses by eliminating the need for manual payments.
GIRO Deductions for School Fees in Singapore
The Ministry of Education (MOE) in Singapore utilizes GIRO to automate the collection of various school-related fees. By setting up a GIRO arrangement, parents and guardians can ensure timely and hassle-free payments for their children’s educational expenses.
Types of Fees Covered by GIRO
The GIRO arrangement with MOE covers several categories of fees, including:
- School and Miscellaneous Fees: These are the standard monthly fees that vary based on the student’s nationality and the type of school attended. They encompass both tuition and additional miscellaneous charges.
- Enrichment Programme Fees: Costs associated with supplementary educational activities designed to enhance the learning experience.
- School Charges: This category includes various school-related expenses, such as charges for materials or resources provided by the school.
- National Examination Fees: Fees for major examinations like the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) and GCE O-Level and A-Level examinations.
